Further information respecting the quantity of wheat threshed is expected during the next few days, when it will probably be known, as suggested previously, that the seed sown in wheat last season was laxger than w.as estimated. A census is .to be taken shortly to ascertain what is the aotual quantity of wheat, flour,' and oata now on hand. It is reported that the traveller . for an American, firm with on agency in New Zealand has been in Christchurch offering Canadian flour at about £17 per ton delivered. Advioe has been received that the Government has, prohibited the export of potatoes. A 1 large quantity of potatoes is now awaiting shipment to Sydney, and merchants are anxious to know whether they will be aJlowed to fill contracts entered into or not. Meantime, the market is unoertain, and the normal price is £5 fc> £6 at country stations.
