H. A. GOODALL, BULLS.

Mr. H. A. Goodall, the popular secretary^ of the Eangitikei Racing Club, carries on a commission and land agency business in ManselPs Buildings, illustrated elsewhere in this issue, and, like many other business men of the township, is taking more than a passing interest in the raising of funds from his district for the relief of distress in the Mother Country and Belgium, and also for our wounded soldiers and hospital ship. The Bulls district has in this respect done remarkably well ; indeed, in proportion to the of the township and district the figures ,would put to shame some of j the larger centres. At the request of the writer, Mr. Goodall, ' who is at present secretary of the Bulls, Sandon, Carnarvon, and Lower Rangitikei Relief Committees, supplies me with the following figures of amounts collected to date, and ,the- heartiest 'congratulations must be accorded Mr. Goodall and the . committee dfor the great record put up so far: — Poor of Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium .Relief, £766 18s Id ; Belgium Relief, £1336 14s 4d ; for Hospital Ship, £166 4s 8d ; our wounded soldiers, £46 19s 9d ; Red Cross £1 0s 9d ; and the various funds are being augmented from day to day. The various secretaryships held by Mr. Goodall naturally keep him busy, and it says much for his loyalty to the district that he remains at Bulls ; for a man with his ability and •knowledge there is a big future if he jmoved out into the larger centres. With a thorough commercial education and 'accountancy .knowledge, some of which iwas gained as an officer of the Bank of "New Zealand from 1891 to 1904, he is well qualified to take an important part in the commercial life of the Dominion. He is perhaps best known, however, as secretary of the Rangitikei Racing Club, a position he has filled with great credit during the past eleven years. The Rangitikei Racing Club's meeting is the oldest established on the coast, _ and although the Racing Commission wiped it out for a time, since its readmission as a totalisator meeting 'the race 3at Bulls are regaining their former great popularity under the guiding influence of a good secretary. • ■ /
