HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 19th June. (Quotations, unless otherwise spocificd, are average market prices on spot : — Mutton— The market is firm and prices continue to advance. There is a fair demand despite higher prices. Canterbury, 7^d por lb for best quality light weight ; heavy weights, 7d ; North Island, 7£d for light weight; ordinary quality, 7d; ewes, 6gd. Lamb— Tho market is quiet, with no alteration in prices for light weight; second grade, 8 5-16 d. Beef — Thore is a very limited supply of New Zealand beef available. Nominal quotations: Hinds, 8d per lb; force, 7d; chilled hinds, B|d ; fores, 71d. Butter— The market is firm. Danish, per cwt, 146s to 1495; New Zealand, 140s to 1425, and up to 1445; Australian, 136s to 140s; Siberian, 130s to 1325; Irish Creamery, 136s to 138s; Argentine, 136s to 1335. Cheese — The market is quiet, and prices have declined further for Colonial and United States cheese. About the beginning of this week prices declined sharply, but the market closocl firmer, and the price- of Now Zealand has advanced Is to 2s since the day beforo yesterday Canadian, quiet, white, per cwt, 92s to 945; coloured, 90s to 925; New Zealand, improved demand, white, 92s to 945; coloured, 90s to 935; United States, a fair demand, white, 90s to 925; coloured, 88s to 90s, according to quality and size. Hemp — The market is steady, but tho demand is only moderate. Now Zealand good fair grade, per ton, £32 10s; fair, £30 10s; fair current Manila, £38 10s. Forward shipment: — N.Z. good fair, £31 15s; fair, £29 10s; Manila, £38. Tho output from Manila foi the week was 24,000 bales. It is impossible to forecast the prospects for hemp, but anticipate little change in values for sometime Wheat.— During last week the market has been inactive, but is now somewhat steadier. Canadian, April to June shipment, 51s per quarter ;_ American, July to August, 445 ; Argentine, not quoted. Oats. — The market is quiet, and there is small business doing. Argentine, June to July shipment, 26s_ por quarter. Hops. — The market is firmer, and there is an increasing domand for better grades. Eng-lish, per cwt, 90s to 115s; Californian, 75s to 105s. Wool. — Tho spot market is strong, and prices for fine wools have advanced sharply.
