Complaint has been made that some people, evidently with a poor sense of humour, have been procuring registration cards, filling them in in other people's names, and sending them into the recruiting office. The names of all recruits being handed to the press for publication, the firsfc that the victims know of their enlistment is when their names appear in the newspaper. This proceeding is to be strongly deprecated, as in such cases injustice is inflicted upon many of the men concerned, who, for private reasons unknown to the practical joker, are unable to see their way to enlist for tho time being. Tho practice is strongly condemned by the Defence authorities, who point out that their records are mixed up in consequence, and men may 'be called up who have not enlisted, thereby depriving others of their chance of getting into camp at the earliest possible moment. It is urged that the practice should immediately cease, so as not to cause annoyance to the individual and inconvenience to tho Department, which is prejudicial to genuine recruits and to the interests of the country.
