SHORTAGE OF EXPLOStVES
COAL MINES IDLE. (Received May 29, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.. A number of coal mines are idle owing to the shortage of explosives. Three thousand miners are unemployed at Newcastle. The Prime Minister (Mr. Fisher) i« in favour of Australia manufacturing her own explosives, and promised to take steps to relieve tho situation.
