Mr. C. N. Baeyertz was a passenger to Sydney by the Manuka to-day. Police Commissioner Cullen was a passenger by the Maori from Lyttelton this morning. Mr. R. C. Hunter, of the Customs Department at Bluff,' is about to retire on superannuation. Capt. Wheeler, of Christchurch, left for London by the Turakina to-day. He intends offering his services for the front, Mr. E. W. Gibbs, travelling representative for Messrs. E. W. Mills and Co., loft for London by the Turakina to day on a Beven months' holiday trip. Mr. Douglas L. Robertson, of the Wellington Technical College, has-beeh appointed to control tho day classes at the Wanganui Technical College. He will commence his duties on 3rd July. At the Wellington Technical Education Board's meeting last evening several members congratulated the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken and Mr. W. S. La Trobe on. being elected members of the Victoria. College Council. Mr. Thomas Lomas, who is a native of Wellington, and has been connected with the typographical department of the Evening Post for the past seventeen years, is leaving for the front as a member of the Artillery section of the Fifth Reinforcements. In the jobbing room of The Post to-day Mr. Thomas Jones, the factory manager, on behalf of the combined staffs, presented Mr. Lomas with safety shaving and smokers' outfits and a wristlet watch. He referred to the recipient's length of service in the office and his popularity with the other employees ; expressed gratification at the fact that he was going to serve his country to the be6t of his ability, pointed out that his comrades on The Post would watch his career abroad with great interest, and concluded by wishing him a safe return.
