BISMARCK'S APPETITE.
Bismarck was a mighty trencherman as well as a heavy drinker. "Tho largest number of oy a tera I ever consumed at one time," he told John Booth, "was when I ate 175 at Luttich, on my way back from England in 1852. First I omered 25. and then, finding them excellent, another 50. Whilst I was consuming these I decided to ent nothing else, and ordered another 100, greatly to the amusement of those present." Ho was very fond of hard-boiled eggs, and when at Versailles in 1870 lamented that be cold only eat three of these at a sitting, whereas formerly he could manage eleven.
