JAPAN AND CHINA

TWO TREATIES SIGNED. (Received May 28, 8.55 a.m.) PEKIN. 27th May. Two treaties between China and Japan have been signed. The first deals with the Shantuns; Peninsula, and the second with Mongolia. The treaties disclose the substitution of one mining right for another. The only difference from the terms of the ultimatum submitted by Japan is claims by Japan to cover injuries to Japanese subjects and damage to Japanese property at Hankow by Chinese mobs. These concessions were made following the presentation several months ago of a list of twenty-one demands which largely have to do with industrial operations in China.- paricularly in regard to railroads and mines. China also enga-ges not to cede or lease to any third Power territory in specified districts.
