BATTLE STILL RAGES

ONSLAUGHT RENEWED BY GERMANS. PETROGRAD, 26th May. An official communique states.: — "The desperate battle on the banks of the San continues. The enemy is still bringing up important forces and has developed a perfect hurricane of artillery fire between Przemysl and the Dniester marshes. All the attacks have been repulsed." It is reported unofficially that, after forty-eight hours' recuperation, the Gpi'mans renewed their onslaught in Galicia. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT The High Commissioner reports : — LONDON, 27th May, 1.50 p.m. Fighting continues in the Shavli region. Near Ossowiec, on the outskirts of the village of Sousnia, an attempt by the Germans to attack Russians was repulsed by fire from the fortress. In the direction of Longa ( ? Lomza) certain sectioruj^were under violent artillery fire. On the "left bank of the Vistula, during Monday and Monday night, the Russians repulsed several attacks, which were not marked by much energy. , A very desperate battle on both banks of the San, in the region between Jaroslav and Przemysl, continued all day on Tuesday. Between Przemyel and the great marshes of the Dniester, the enemy continued to develop a perfect hurricane of artillery fire. The enemy is still bringing into battle important forces on the Gussakuvo-Krukenitza section.
