FINE, BUT COLD WEATHER
Wellington continues to enjoy an cxi traordinanly long spell of satisfactory ! weather, and as yet there is no need to fear a change. Cold nights and bright sunny days have ruled in the city, and oven the wind has been absent. Yesterday tho thermometer registered two extremes/ tho maximum being 58.8' degrees and the minimum 39.6 degrees. So far there has been no rainfall this month, while the total for last month was only .68 inches. Showers were recorded in East Coast districts yesterday, but there was a general improvement all round this morning. Easterly winds, changing to north, are promised south of ' Kawhia and East Caijo, while the barometer gives prospect of little movement except in the North, where it is likely to fall. Fair weather should continue generally, with a very cold night and hard frosts in the South Island.
