Sir John Findlay, K.C., returned to Wellington from the North yesterday afternoon. Among tho passengers from the South this morning were Dr. Truby King and Dr. Valintine. Lieutenant-Colonel Gibbon, Chief o£ the General Staff, left for tho North yesterday afternoon. Mr. T. W. Waite, the Commercial Agent of the Railway Department, returned from Auckland yesterday afternoon. The Bishop of Nelson arrived at Colombo on Ins way to Now Zealand on Saturday last. His Lordship is due in Nelson on the 27th instant Mr. W. Pryor, secretary of the New Zealand Employers' Federation, will leave t to-night for the South) to attend tho sitting of the Arbitration Court at Dunodin. The Rev, E. H. Hobday, who has been in temporary charge of the Vivian-streefc Baptist Church for some months, will leave for Australia by the Manuka this afternoon, on his way to take up his new charge at Bondigo. Mr. J. H. Pollock, the well-known handicapper, who has been in poor health for the past year, has recovered sufficiently to leave for the South to attend the meeting of the Metropolitan Trotting Clubs' Board. Captain John Henry Arddn, a Now Zealander with tho Worcestershire Regi* ment, who last Friday was reported to have received the Distinguished Service Order for conspicuous , gallantry and ability at Neuve Chapello, was formerly a station holder near Cupe Runaway, end was well known on the East Coast of the North' Island. Mr. tt. P. Giblin, who ha* been for tho last seven years manager of Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen's Nelson branch, has received intimation of his transfer on promotion to the management of the firm's business at Wanganui. Mr. Giblin, who will leave Nei6on towards the end of the month, will be succeeded by Mr. Clark, who at present represents Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen on tho West Coast. Mr. P R. Pye-Smith, who is leaving New Zealand shortly, has taken a keen interest in Association football for a number of years. At this week's meet, ing of the Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association he tendered his resignation a* a member of that body. The chairman (Mr. A. E. ' Wells) referred to the valuable work of Mr. Pye-Smith, and it was resolved to send a letter of thanks to him for past services. Mr. G. W. Clinkard, assistant-sccre. tary to the Employers' Association, has joined the reinforcements at Trentham, and was yesterday presented with sev. eral farewell gifts. Mr. J. B. Hftreourt, on behalf of the committee .of the Belgium, Great Britain, and Ireland Relief Fund, presented him with a pair of binoculars as a mark of appreciation of the help he bad rendered. Mr. T. 8. Weston on behalf of the Advisory Bourd of tho Employers' Association, presented a wristlet watc,h ; My. W. E. Fulton presented a revolver on behalf of tho ship* ping companies ; and Mr. W.
