VICTORIA COLLEGE STUDENTS
Referring to the capping celebrations, the committee of the Viotoria College Students' Association in its annual report says it records with great pleasure the fact that tho last ceremony — the first of its kind— arranged and controlled sololy by the internal authorities of ths College, was entirely successful, and the thanks of tho association aro duo to the College Council and to the Professorial Board for having introduced such a function, and for having allowed tho association to co-operato in its management. The various festivities were quite successful.' Tho carnival yielded a net profit of £52 18s. Thanks are given to Dr. Kington Fyffe, who, at short notice, took charge of tho musical portion of the Carnival. Tho Collego Council and the Professorial Board, at tho request of the association, have agreed to hold a similar capping function this year. At the suggestion of Dr. Fyffe, who offered financial and other assistance, it had been docided to stage a Greek drama at this year's -capping ; but owing to the outbreak of war, this idea has been abandoned for the present. The committee recommends that the incoming committee bo instructed to donate the whole or a substantial portion of the proceeds to the carnival to some Patriotio Fund. Messrs. G. S. Strack, M.A., and J. C. M'Dowall, B.Sc have been nominated for life membership. The committee has considered the question of a Blazer Scheme, and has succeeded in getting tho New Zealand University Tournament Com- ■ mittee to adopt a system of University Blues. The committeo also submits for consideration a scheme for College Blues. The thanks of the association are duo to Mrs. M'Phail, Miss B. Watson, and the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken for donations.
