QUEEN OF THE CARNIVAL
Nominations for tho election of the Carnival Queen have been extended to 11th May. It is expected that boforo that date the various organisations which have been invited to nominate a oandidato will hare chosen their lady representative to contest the election. The Patriotic Society .is looking for quite twenty candidates, and the activits' being shown by the societies and clubs interested should create much interest and leave no doubt about the success of the Carnival. The object of tho carnival is to raise funds for the establishment of a base hospital at Trentham, also to provide funds for the assistance of New Zealanders who ar.e incapacitated from causes arising out.of being on active service, and for the relief of tho dependents of those who fall in the field of honour. If all pull willingly .together it is felt 'that the success of the carnival in Welhngion is assured. The prospective candidates for queen will no doubt think ifc an honour to be nominated, and they will have the satisfaction of knowing that they are assisting in noble work. What Ohristchurch and other cities have done it is felt that Wellington should exoel. It rests with one and all to make the carnivai a hugo success. 1
