FIXING OF PRICES. SYDNEY, 3rd May. The Council has fixed the prices of flour as follows :—ln: — In Cumberland and Northumberland districts, £11 17s 6d per ton ; elsewhere, £2 17s 6d per ton i above the local prices obtaining on 10th August. Bran. — In ' Cumberland and Northumberland, wholesale £7 10s per ton ; elsewhere, 30s above prices ruling on 10th September. Retail lots not exceeding a ton 3d per bushel, exceeding a ton 2d per bushel, over wholesale prices. . Pollard. — In Cumberland and Northumberland districts, wholesale £8 per ton ; ekewhere, 40s a ton above prices ruling on 10th September; retail prices, 3d and 2d per bushel over the wholesale prices ; the same as for bran. The price of chickwheat wholesale is 5s 7d cash and 5s 9d booked, the retail price being 3d extra over the cost of handling, the maximum being 6s 6d a bushel. WHEAT FOR VICTORIA MELBOURNE, 3rd May. The Government has ordered a further six thousand tons of Argentine wheat. SYDNEY HOTELS AND EARLY CLOSING SYDNEY, 3rd May. A public meeting in the Town Hall unanimously passed a resolution in favour of closing the hotels at 6 o'clock. OBITUARY MELBOURNE, 3rd May. The death haa taken place of Commander Evans, formerly Inspector-Gen-OTal of Prisons in Victoria. COMMONWEALTH TRADE DECREASE IN IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. (Received May 4, 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Commonwealth imports for the nine months ended. April decreased by £13,256,000 and exports decreased, by £24,990,000. AUSTRALIAN PENSIONERS (Received May 4, 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. There are now 90,335 old-age and 19,446 invalid pensioners in the Commonwealth, involving a weekly payment of £54,000. THE LOST ENDEAVOUR FINDING OF THE MARINE COURT. j (Received May 4, 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Marine Court has found that the lost trawler Endeavour was sufficiently officered and manned, properly equipped, and seaworthy. NEWCASTLE MINERS IDLE RELIEF WORKS STARTED. (Received May 4, 10.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Relief works are starting at Newcastle to assist a large number of miners who are idle owing to slackness in the coal trade.
