HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE
The High Commissioner reports, un- ! der date London, Bth March, 5.30 p.m. :— Army casualties.— Officers : 11 killed, 13 wounded, 7 prisoners. Men : 198 killed. 333 wounded, 8 prisoners, 1 rejoined, 132 missing. OPERATIONS IN THE WEST. Paris reports. — Trenches were captured by us north-west of Souain. Trenches were also captured between Perthesand Beausejour for a distance of from 400 to 500 rnetrea. On the heights of the Meuse, French artillery, according to prisoners, aeriously damaged a 42 centimetre gun, which was dismounted and sent to the repair shop. In the Vosges. at Reichacherkopf, the Germans counter-attacked violently, and succeeded .in gaining a foothold for an instant. They were driven away by the infantry, leaving Reichacherkopf defi* nitely in the Allies' hands. The enemy's losses were extremely heavy.
