Trenches were also captured between Perthesand Beausejour for a distance of from 400 to 500 rnetrea. On the heights of the Meuse, French artillery, according to prisoners, aeriously damaged a 42 centimetre gun, which was dismounted and sent to the repair shop. In the Vosges. at Reichacherkopf, the Germans counter-attacked violently, and succeeded .in gaining a foothold for an instant. They were driven away by the infantry, leaving Reichacherkopf defi* nitely in the Allies' hands. The enemy's losses were extremely heavy.
