(PRESS ASSOCIATION) AVIATOR'S GREAT FEAT
PEGOUD HONOURED. PARIS, 7th March. Pegoud has been awarded the Military Medal for attacking three Taubes. [It was semi-officially announced on 14th February that a French aviator, accompanied by a machine gunner and gun, chased a Taube machine. After a minute's hot firing the Taube fell in flames, with ' its wings torn to rib•bons. The Frenchman then attacked two other aeroplanes. The first shot struck one, and the Frenchman bore down on it vertically, firing incessantly. Suddenly it fell like a. stone. The Frenchman rose to a height of 1500 yards and engaged a third aeroplane. The latter replied with shots from an automatic rifle, but began falling after a minute, and tilted on its left wing. The Frenchman volplaned, firing continually, and the German dashed to the ground. The Frenchman bombarded the machine with shells, and returned to the French lines
