The Incorporated Society ol Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations for flio undortiipntioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcases of mutton or lamb, or twenty-live quarters of beef, of fair average quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments now on the market. The prices which follow arc on the average a farthim* per lb more than the values ex ship, this difference representing the average cost in expense, handling, conveyance, and selling of the meat: — ■ ' Mutton — North Island, ordinary, 5 13-16 d; best brands* 5 15-16 d; Now Zealand ewes, sad. Australian, light, 6 7-16 d; heavy, s|d ; ewes, 5 3-l6d. Lamb— Australian best, 7^d ; fair, 6£d ; inferior. 6|d. Beef— Australian fores, 6 3-16 d; Argentine chilled fores, 6d ; hinds, 6|d ; Uruguay chilled fores, s|d ; hinds, 6£d. Rabbits— Tho market is firm, and full rates are being realised. LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, 6th March. Butter— Danish, is quoted at 138s to 140s. Jute is quiet. March-April shipment, £21 per ton. N.Z. Hemp— Tho "market is steady. March-May shipment, £31 10s per ton. Rubber — Hard fine Parn 2s s^d per lb ; plantation, 2s 4^d ; smoked sheets, 2s s§d. Copra — January-February , shipment, £27 5s per ton. Silver— Bar silver is quoted at 23^d per ounce standard. HIDES AND LEATHER. LONDON, 6th March. Hides aro dull, Queenslands, 93d to 9 3-16dj New South' Wales, 9|d, Leather is in steady demand ; best Australian, 16d to 18JU1. Basils are in good demand, and values ate unchanged. •" RABBITSKINS, LONDON, 6th March. At tho rabbitskins sales 1290 bundles wore offered and 847 were sold. Thoro was little change, except better qualities, which declined a halfpenny. AVHEAT MARKET. LONDON, 6th March. Tho wheat market is weak, owing to heavy Argentine shipments, and the further weakness in America. Chicago May options aro quoted at 1352 cents to 140 cents; July options, llOg cents to 1131 cents. BOARD OF TRADE RETURNS. LONDON. 6th March. The British Board of Trade returns show that tho imports for February increased by £321,563, exports decreased by £15,084.860, and re-exports decreased by £3,419,271, as compared with February of last year.
