LONDON WOOL SALES
(By T«legraph.— Press Association.— Copyright,) LONDON, sth March. The wool eales closed very firm. There was strong competition for all qualities at top prices, American dealers buying good merinos freely. The following prices realised for the clips named : Mount Bute, top, 18d, average 16|d ; AML, 16d, 15|d; Breezo, 12d, llfd ; Waterloo, 14Jd, 13|d; Dunlop, 30d, 29£ d; New Zealand Mokopeka, 18d, 17d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Association Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram ■ from London, under date sth instant: — "Tho wool sales have closed. The market is strong. As compared with position at 6th February, greasy crossbred, medium, and coarse, are 10 per cent, higher. Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London friends, Messrs. Sanderson, Murray, and Co., under to-day's date: — "Wool sales closed very firm. Fifteen thousand bales held over, including 12,000 bales 'Port Curtis' and 'Marathon' not available. Compared with last sales' closing rates, market generally 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, higher." Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received a cable from their London agents saying that the wool sales have closed with prices from 5 to 7| per cent, dearer than at the beginning of the series. The United Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents: — "At the wool sales, which opened here to-day, there was keen competition for all crossbred wools, and prices advanced ten per cent, as compared with closing rates of previous sale." Harry Palmer and Co., of Palmerston North, sell furniture, live stock, etc., at Hugh Fraser and Son's farm, Komako, Pohangina, on 10th March. Tenders for supplies to troopships at Port Chalmers and Wellington are called for by the Headquarters, New Zealand Military Forces.
