LOCAL AND GENERAL Mr. Harold Beauchamp (chairman) has been appointed by the Government a director of the Bank of New Zealand for two years from 31st March, 1915, the date at Which his present office expires. It is also understood that Mr. J. H. Upton, of Auckland, who retires with Mr. Beauchamp, has been reappointed for two years, as from 31st March next. Seventeen hundred and twenty-three bags of European, American, and Island mails will arrive at Auckland tomorrow afternoon by the Niagara from Vancouver— tho largest mail yet brought by the Vancouver line. These include mails that should have been sent on by the Marama, which met with an accident at San Francisco recently, and was unable to keep to her time-table. The mails for the south number over 1200 bags, and these, together with the southern portion of 585 bags of European and Australian mails arriving by the .Maheno from Sydney on Sunday morning, come south by the Main Trunk express leaving Auckland on Sunday | evening. | During February thirty-four meetings I were held in the Salvation Army s marquee at Trentham. The attendances totalled 18,469. In addition six concerts, all of which attracted crowded gatherings, were given. The total number of letters written in the marquee during the period in question was 13,000. Every night the Army's building is crowded with troopers, who take the fullest advantages of the various games provided, as well as the opportunities offered for reading and writing.
