The court of directors of the Royal Humane Society granted the following awards to-day: — In the_ case of Rima Sadaraka (21), for rescuing two young men from drowning at Aitutaki, Cook Islands, on 9th January, 1914. On the above- date there occurred a terrific hurricane, the worst experienced in the islands for some year*. A small trading vessel reached AituUki from Rarotonga about 2 p.m., but, the sea being so rough, it was unable to reach the ahore. A boat went out to at' tempt to leach the vessel, but being unable to do so, was returning to the shore, when it was capsized and all the occupants were thrown into the surf. Rima Sadaraka, one of the party, managed to reach the reef in safety, but seeing some of his companions m difficulty in the surf, he twice plunged into the water to their assistance, and at great personal risk he succeeded in bringing two youths to the surface to regain their breath, and ultimately ho brought them one at a time to the reef, whence they were rescued in an exhausted condition.— A silver- medal was awarded. Iv the case of David Cosgrove (62), for rescuing Herbert M'Garry (11) from j drowning at Kaiapoi on 6th January, 194-S, a bronze medal was awarded. In the case of Arthur Jeffs (44), for rescuing men from diowning at Manukan Heads on 25th January, 1914, a bronze medal was awarded. In the case of Robert Cash man (46), for rescuing John V. Strachan (4J.), fi'orn drowning at Wellington on 13th , October, 1014, a oet titickte was awarded. ]
