MID-WEEK ASSOCIATION CENTURY BY GEORGE. The fourth round of the mid-week cricket competitions was concluded on the Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon. The wickets were in excellent order, reflecting credit on the groundsman for their preparation. Tn the match Oriental A v. Rivals, on the first day's play, Rivals, with five wickets down, were within 11 runs of Oriental's score. The not out men were George (70) and Dr. M'Evedy (4). Continuing their batting yesterday Dr. M'Evedy was bowled when he had added 5 to his score, while George added 39, making his score 109 before he was clean bowled by Dempsey. Collyer (27) played good cricket. The innings closed for 232. Oriental, wanting 82 runs to save an innings defeat, managed to put on 162. Dempsey (40) and Hamilton (26) were the best scores. Rivals thus won by 02 nins on the first innings, and scored a two-point win. The Union-Oriental B match resulted in an easy win for Union by 140 runs. Union in the first innings made 180, and, with two wickets down in their Second innings for 124, declared the innings closed. Oriental made 135 in their first innings, and batting eight men in their second, were all out for the small score of 2Q.
