DOMINION TOURNEY TE HIWI AND PALMERSTON TO PLAY OFF. (BY TELEGRAPH— I-RES3 ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 14th January. The annual championship tournament of the Dominion Bowling Association was. continued to-day in fine but windy weather, and on greens heavy as a result of last evening's rain. Intersectional play in the full-rink match resulted as follows : — INTERSECTIONAL PLAY. First Round— Katangahake (M'Lean, Morrison, Hilton, Jury), 23, v. Auckland (Ryrie, Carlaw, Black, Osmond), 15. St. John's (Green, Jack, Christie, Gordon), 18, v. W«st End (Tonkin, Whitten, Coutts, Beecroft), 14. Beecroft started well, getting singles but of the first two heads. Then Gordon had a run of scoring — 1, 1, 2, 1, 2— and led, 7-2, on the seventh head. Beecroft followed with a Tun of 4, 1, 2, and led, 9-7. Beecroft held an advantage to the sixteenth head, when the game was 11 all. Gordon scored 2, 1, 0, 3, 1, on thfl last five heads to Beecroft 'b 3, and thus won by a margin of four points. Second Round — Karangahake (Jury), 22, v. St. -John's (Gordon), 21. At the ninth head £ four to Jury made the game 14-10 in hie favour. Even scoring followed, and the game was 18-14 in Jury's favour at the eighteenth head. Gordon got 3 out of the nineteenth, and Jury 3 out of the twentieth, and the game was 22-17 in Jury's favour and one head to go. Gordon got four out of three, and Jury thus won by the narrowest possible margin. Palmerston North (H. Nash, Dixon, F J. Tasker, J. A. Naish), 28 v Thorndon (Longton, Johnson, Shallcrass, Munro), 16. Nash had an easy win in this game. He started with a run of 2, 1, 3, 2, 1, awl led, 9-0, at the fiftn head. A five to Munro gave him a chance, but Nash went one better and got x six out of the next head, and following with two singles led, 17-5, at the ninth head. This lead was maintained to the end of the game. Te Hiwi (Baskerville, Fowler, Frost, E. J. Hill), 18 v. Ponsonby (M. Casey, M. Taylor, V. Casey, M. Walker), 16. A five to Hill at the fifth head gave him a lead, 7-3. The game was 11 all at the twelfth liead, and a three to Walker at the nineteenth put the game 16 all. Hill got a single at the twentieth head, when Walker was lying 5 up, and pushed a' closely-contested game with another on the last head. Dominion-road (West, Gordon, Findlay, Dr. Moir) 22 v. New Plymouth (Ward, Morey, Barry, A. Smart) 19. THE SEMI-FINALS. Palmerston North (Nash), 30 v. Ka. rahgahake (Jury), 18. Jury started well with 2, 1, but Nash got a six on the third head and followed tfith 2, 4, 2, and led, 14-3. Jury then got three singles and a 2, and the game was 14-8 in Rash's favour. The latter got a 5, Jury a single, and Nash ! 4, 3, making the game 26-9 in the lat- j ter^s favour at the fourteenth head. Jury then scored two fours and a single, and the game was 27-18, and three heads io go. Nash scored 2, 1, and the game ended at the twentieth head. , Te Kiwi (Hijl), 22 v. Dominion-road (Moir), 17. Hill got a good start, scoring 3, 2, on the first, two heads and a 3 on the fourth head, mid thus led, 8-1. He was never afterwards headed, although the game was 11-11 at the eleventh head. Hill continued to get the best of the scoring, but Moir, when 7 down and two heads to go, raised the hopes of his supporters { by getting a 3. His team, however, gave him no assistance on the last head, and this required 4 was not obtained. The final between Nash, of Palmerston North, and Hill, of Te Hiwi, will be played on Saturday afternoon. NEWTOWN v. HATAITAI. Thi» match, postponed last Saturday, will be played to-morrow. The Newtown seams v will be as selected last week.
