SAWMILLERS' POSITION
The proposals of the sawraiilers who recently waited upon the Prime Minister for legislation suspending the payment of rents and royalties on timber lands, are to 'be met by a counterdeputation of persons who will be adversely affected, and who will urge the Government not to further paralyse the timber industry with a "moratorium" but to provide money ho that all applications for loans from people wanting to build can be met immediately. Mr. Mnssey will be asked to issue an emergency paper currency redeemable within one year of the end of the war in order to keep the timber, building, and allied trades from stagnation. The deputation will consist of the holders of timber rights, architects, builders, and applicants for building loans.
