ENGINEERING CLASSES. PRIZES FOR THE YEAR.

The engineering classes at the Technical College wound up the 1914 session with a very enjoyable social held in the main hall at the, college last evening. Arrangements were made by a committee of the students, consisting of Messrs. Goer, A. D. M 'Donald, and Crane, and the tables were set out and supper supplied by Mrs. Oscar Johnstone. The Chairman 'of the Technical Education Board, Mr. D. Robertson, presided, and was supported by Mr J. _ Marchbanks, Chairman of the Engineering Board of Control, and Mr. T. R. Wallace. The director and the instructors. Messrs. M'Vicar. Earnshaw, and Graham, were also present. A valuable prize, presented by Mr. T. R. Wallace, was won by Mr. A. G. Wilson, for the most advanced work done during the year. Prize certificates were presented by the chairman, in lieu of the usual school prizes, the students having decided that the amount of the prizes should go to the Belgian Relief Fund. Short addresses were given by the Chairman, Mr. Marchbanks, Mr, T. It. Wallace, and the staff. Musical items were contributed by Mr. W Butcher. A number of prizes, consisting of reference works in engineering, were given by Messrs. M'Vicar and Earnshaw to those boys who are leaving the Da.y Technical School to enter on their apprenticeship this Christmas. The "social" broke up at 10.30 p.m. after singing "Auld Lang Syne" and giving three cheers for the Chairman and also for the Director.
