RUN OVER BY A MOTOR-CAR

An enquiry was opened at the ffospital yesterday by the Coroner (Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M.) into the death of J&me* N Gilleu, who was run over and killed by Dr. Tolhurst's motor-car in an alley>way off Courtenay«place on Friday night last. Dr. Tolhurst stated that he was driving his car up a right-of-way to his garage. The car bumped over something, which he first thought was debris. Later h6 discovered Gillen suffering from various injuries. After giving him every attention he had him removed to the Hos' pital. ( Dr. Hardwick Smith, Medical Superintendent at the Hospital, said that, in his opinion, death was due to shock following on the accident. Further evidence was to the effect that deceased was a man of sober habits. Ths inquest was adjourned until 9.30 .a.m. to-morrow.
