WELLINGTON BOYS' LEAGUE ANNUAL MEETING.' The annual meeting of the Wellington Boys' Cricket League was held in the V.M.C.A. Rooms last evening, Mr. W. Walton presiding over an attendance of about twenty delegates. The annual report showed that the league had made good progress, and was now established as a strong fostering ground for the boy cricketers of Wellington. This has been borne out by the excellent players that have been brought to light, some of whom have represented the Wellington province and gained a place in the team which toured Australia. The past eeason was a v very good ; one. there ueing seventeen teams in the two competitions. In many instances exceedingly close finishes resulted. During the season many of the boye showed excellent form both with bat and ball. The senior grade competition was won by tho Marist Bros.' team (which was also successful the. previous season), while in the junior grade the United Methodist headed the list for championship honours. In spite of the fact that each team gained a big lead from tho other teams', they had many keen matches. The points gained by the two j leading teams in the senior grade were : —Marist A 33, Institute 14 ; and in the junior grade United Methodist (42) and I St. Anne's Institute and Naumai (each 21) were the leading teams. The report urged players. -to pay as much attention to fielding as to batting and bowling. Trophies for the best averages were won i as follow :— Batting : K. DeMuth, Mar- | ist Bros, (senior). 27.5 ; K. Yates, Marist Bros, (junior), 35. Bowling : G. Cunningham, Boys' Institute (senior), 4.05; H. D. Tonks. United Methodist (junior); 2.6. Best fielding performance in junior grade : Wylie (Naumai). During the season two representative games were played against third-class elevens. The thanks of the league were tendered to Mr. B. Bell, secretary, who resigned during the season, and to Mr. 0. K. Dick, the treasurer, who has joined the Expeditionary Force. The City Couhcil and the custodians of tha reAerves were also thankedi for the suitable grounds provided ; also the donors Of trophies. Messrs. W. Walton, Eglin, Ryan, Graham, and M'Clusky. and the V.M.C.A. Board of Management for the use of a room. The financial position of the club was reported to be satisfactory. The ropoii was adopted Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow : — Patron, His Excel-» lency the Governor (Lord Liverpool) ; president, Mr. W. Walton; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. Eyan, W. J. Bennett, Dr. M'Kenzie, I*. Laws, T. M'Carthy, and Eglin ; secretary, Mr. P. M'Oluskey ; treasurer, Mr. B. Mabin; committee, Messrs. G. Fitzgerald, R. Hornblow, F. Graham, T. H. Foretei*, and G. Boesky; auditor, Mr. Ryan. The outgoing committee was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, as also was Mr. W. Walton for the interest he had taken in the league. y At the conclusion of the meeting the newly-elected committee met, and decided to hold the meetings throughout the season on alternate Tuesdays, .at 7.30 p.m. Other matters were also discussed.
