FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT
OLD IDENTITY KILLED. An old identity of the Hutt Valley, and a well-known and highly-respected settler, Mr. James Kilminster, met his death under tragic circumstances yesterday. Just before 3 o'clock he was returning to his home at Belmont, and his track led him across the railway line. Ho was deaf, and dM not hear an approaching "train, nor did the engine criver see him until an accident occurred. Mr. Kilminster was knocked down and dragged some distance before the train could be pulled up. An examination showed that he had sustained a severe injury to his side. He was immediately taken to Upper Hutt for medical treatment, and from there ' ordered to ¦ the Hospital. He was admitted to the institution shortly after 5 o'clock, and died a few minutes later. The late Mr. Kilminster lived by himself at Belmont. He was a farmer, and was born in Wellington seventy-six years ago. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
