Arrived—Kaikoura (7 a.m.), from Lyttelton, ULIMAROA, FROM SYDNEY, Heavy rain having delayed the Uliinuroa at Sydney on Saturday last, it was not uutil 10.30 o'clock labt night that the vessel arrived in Wellington. Bad weather, with heavy seas, was encountered throughout the trip, more particularly during the first day or two out from Sydney, when strong north-easterly winds made matters none too pleasant for the passengers. The vessel remained in the stream 'overnight, and came to a berth at the Queen's Wharf (inner tee) this morning, .where discharge of a large general cargo was commenced. This included a quantity of transhipments. The Ulimaroa sails for Lyttelton at 5 p.m, to-morrow, returning to Wellington on Saturday morning, and sailing at 3 p.m. that day for Sydney." A projected departure from Port Chalmers to-day was the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's liner Corinthic for Auckland, to continue Homeward loading The vessel subsequently comes on to Wellington to complete operations. Next month the Toinui will take the loading berth, and will also make tt call at Auckland preparatory to coming to Wellington to -1111 up. An expected arrival at Wellington to-mor-row is the Karamea. from Timaru. This vess>el is comiug to take in the final portion of her Home cargo. PERSONAL. Mr. J. Darroch, chief officer of the Ulimaroa, who has lately been acting master of the Moorabool, has rejoined the intercolonial liner. Mr. A. F. Liney joined the Ulimaroa at Melbourne as assistant pun>er. Mr. W. Walker has signed on the Ngakuta as second engineer. Mr. H. Huntly has succeeded Mr. W. D'Arcy as second officer of the Karma. Mr. C. Grant has signed on tho Karma as third engineer. It is now announced that the repairs being carried out to the Defender at Lyttelton will not be completed until the end of this week, when the vessel will sail for Wellington. While at Wellington this trip the Anchor Company's steamer Regulus, which arrived last night from Westport, will be placed on the Patent Slip for cleaning and painting.
