A private cablegram was received by relatives here last night from Dr. Barclay, who is Lieutenant-Coloael, Officer Commanding the South Canterbury Regiment of Infantry, and who, when the war broke out, wae travelling in th© Far East. The cablegram read as follows :—": — " Petrograd. Volunteering for military service England. Meanwhile at Russian-Austrian front, operating «urgeon, field hospital.— H. C. Barclay. 1 ' THE MONO WAI RETURNS ♦ '■ (BT TBLHOIUPH.— THESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND. This Day. The Monowai, which returned to-day, brings a cargo and a number of troopers back from Samoa to join tho Second I Expeditionary Force.
