ANCIENT MAORI TOOLS
VALUABLE FIND. (Bt TELEOnAPH.~-PBkBS 4MOCIAMON.) CHRISTCHURCH, 9th Sept. About n week ago c ploughman on Mi. D. Thompson's farm at Motukarara found a stone adzo which had been turned up by tho plough. A search made in the soil around, resulting in the discovery of thirty chisels, axes, and adzes, such as were used by the Maoris before the arrival of the )>akelia. The tools are in splendid condition, and us sharp as possible. They wcro found in alluvial snA at a depth of from six to eighteen inches below the surface.
