A good " deal of misapprehension still appears to exist- among the general public regarding the addressing of correspondence to members of the main New Zealand Expeditionary Force now in camp in various parts of the Dominion. The directions previously issued by the Defence Department with reference 'to addressing correspondence for members of the Force, care, of the G.P.0.. Wei* hngton, should not' be applied until after the Force has left New Zealand, and in the meantime letters, telegrams, news* papers, etc.," should be addressed to tho camps the men are at. To address correspondence, etc., care of the G.P.0., Wellington, at the present time means a delay in their receipt by the men, and this it is desired to avoid. It is hoped that the general public will not require to be reminded of this again.

After six weeks' absence Mr. C. W. Palmer has just returned from a business trip to the South Island. During his absenco ho suffered an attack of ptomaine poisoning, followed by fever, which delayed his return for over a fortnight. When H.M.S. New Zealand was here ,a patriotic song, "Tlic Empire of the Sea," 'was sung by Mr. Molu'. The words wove by Mr. J. Liddell Kelly, and the music by Mr. W. M'Laughlin. This "song of tho British Empire," which was the subject of very favourable comment at tho time, has now been published — embellished on tho cover by v flag design in colours and v reproduction of H.M.S. New Zealand — and should easily hold its own among many of the patriotic musical proauctions "which ure so popular jusl jiow\
