Weather.— B, blue sky, be the atmosphere clear or heavy; C, clouds, passing clouds; D, drizzling rain; F, foggy; Q, gloomy, dark weather; H, hail; I/, lightning; M, misty; O, overcast, the whole sky covered with thick clouds; P, passing showers; Q, squally; R, rain, continued rain; S,.snow; T, thunder; V, ugly, threatening l appearance ; Z, hazy.

At 8 a.m. to-day the following forecast was Issued for the subsequent 24 hours :- Winds. — Variable, but moderate westerly prevailing northward of Kawhia and East Cape; moderate to strong and increasing westerly winds elsewhere Barometer. — Falling tendency. Sea. — Considerable on all the western coast and between Castlepolnt and ffaikoura ; rough southwards; smooth northward of East Cape; moderate elsewhere. Tides,— Moderate northward of East Cape; good elsewhere. Warning signals for westerly gales are ex- ! hibited at Nugget Point and Centra Island. | Weather.— Fair to cloudy generally, but becoming cloudy southward of New Plymouth and Napier, and squally, with rain following, in the southernmost districts.
