GERMAN ATROCITIES
EVIDENCE BEFORE COMMISSION INCREDIBLE MISDOINGS. (Received September 9, 12.45 p.m.) ANTWERP, Bth September. The Commission of Enquiry has gathered evidence regarding German atrocities at Vise, Ousmael, Aerschot, Louvain, and the vicinity of Malines. _ The troops emptied the Public Treasuries, and became intoxicated. They discharged their rifles in the streets and in' empty houses, afterwards declaring that the inhabitants fired. This was made a pretext to murder, burn, and pillage. Men were shut up in churches while the women were outraged. The Germans took hostages, and demanded ransoms. They forced men, women, and children to march in front of the troops, displaying white flags, in order to lead the enemy to approach. They also shot ten priests.
