Corliss, and Mr. R. Duncan. A Press Association telegram from Taurariga records the death of Captain Kej.T, R.N., aged eighty-one, an old resident of Tauranga. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes (Postmaster. General) and Mr. D. A. Aiken (General Manager of the Union Steam Ship Com* pany) arrived from the South this morning. Included in the Corinthic'a passengers from London to-day were foiir Church of England ministers, the Revs. F. Ballance, A. Mason, A. Thomson, and Mr. E. Bourne, who are to acv as missionaries at Melanesia. They leave for Auckland to-night. Mr. G. Mayo Kebbell, of Wellington, who has been on a visit to Europe, and Lieutenant W. A. Bum, of the New Zealand Defence Staff Corps, who went Home for training, and also did a good deal of aviation, returned to Wellington by the Corinthic 10-day. Mr. F. de G. English, Examiner to the Associated Board of the R.A.M. and R.C.M., London, will arrive in Welling- , ton to conduct the annual practical examinations about Ist October, and will t be engaged here for a, fortnight. The 'examinations will be held in the Congregational Schoolroom, Bowen-street. Hts Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) and Mr. Justice Cooper are at present in Auckland ; Mr. Justice Edwards is in New Plymouth; Mr. Justice Hosking is on tho West Coa&t, where he will probably remain for the present week 5 and Mr. Justice Denniston and Mr. Justice Sim are also in the South Island. Mr. Frank Meadowcroft, manager in New Zealand for Messrs. Cadbury Bros., has cabled to Mr. A. J. Macklin, of Wellington, who is at present in charge of the company's business in the Dominion, that he and nis wife and family will leave London for Australia by the Orsova on 25th September, and should arrive back in Wellington by 12th November. . Gibson Smith, accompanied by Mrs. Smith, returned to Wellington by the Corinthic to-day after an extended world tour. tire enjoying excellent health, and are greatly benefited by their trip. The return to Eugkhd was made by way of France, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith passed through the present centre of the groat war.
