PARLIAMENT
TODAY'S PROCEEDINGS LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL The Legislative Council met at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon. The Hon. T. Thompson presided in the absence of the Speaker (Sir Charles Bowen) through illness. Leave of absence for ten days was gianted to the Hon. Mr. Barr on account of urgent public business. The Presbyterian Church Property Amendment Bill (Hon. Mr. Dutlu'e), providing for larger powers in the administration of church property and funds, was read a third time and passed. The Methodist Charitable and Educational Trusts Amendment Bill (Hon. Mr. Hardy), on similar lines, was also passed. The River Boards Amendment Bill (Hon. Mr. Bell) was read a third time, and passed. Tho Whangarei Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Hon. Mr. Beehan) was read a second time. The Council adjourned at 2.50 p.m. p.m.
