ABUSE OF THE WHITE FLAG
ZEPPELINS PROVE USELESS. (Received September 7, 9 a.m.) PETROGRAD, 6th September. 'Wounded men from Prussia describe how they stood for hourß with shrapnel raining down upon them, and unable to see a single German for dust. Aeroplanes enabled the artillery to direct the fire on the Russian lines. The Zeppelins, however, proved useless. Three were brought down. The Germans lulled a number of Russian wounded. They fired on them under the white flag, and they frequently used dumdum bullets. Colonel Tomilotsky's two daughters and Major Gerard's daughter, from vilna, disguised as soldiers, stole off to the theatre of war. Eventually their parents allowed them to go to the front as volunteers. The Germans are using various infernal machines for destroyine hiffhwavs and bridges. ° J At Tomaschoff, the Russian infantry put the majority of the Austrian officers hors di; combat, thus causing a panic. Then began a general attack, and the Austrians speedily hoisted the whitfl flog. This was of frecment occurrence. <, L
