IDLE AND DISORDERLY

A trio well known to the police—Mary Louisa Spencer, Annie Quinn, and Samuel Speight — mounted the dock at the Magistrate's Court this morning, and all denied a- charge of being idle and disorderly, in that they habitually con* sorted with women of ill-repute. After hearing much evidence, Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., entered a conviction, and imposed sentences of two tnonthe' imprisonment in each case. Spencer aaid Speight were also charged with the Use of obscene language, and in this connection were fined £2, or, in the alternative, ordered to spend a further fourteen days in gaol. William Tierley, who was found in the corporation yards early this morning, was also convicted of being idle and disorderly, and sent to gaol for one month.
