RUGBY FOOTBALL

OTAGO"S NORTHERN TOUR.

(Br TELEGRAPH.— PUESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 31st August. At a meeting of the Otago Rugby Union to-night, Mr. 11 . White expressed the opinion that it was not a time to send a team away on tour merely for the sake of keeping engagements with the Northern provinces. He moved that the Northern tour be cancelled, but the general opinion was that tlie matter had gone too far to take that course, and the non-playing of the interprovincial fixtures would not improve the position. The motion was lost. The following is tlie team choseu for the Northern tour -.—Backs : Watson, Whittaker, Marks, Fortune, Denham, Hanna. Dryden, Andrews, F. Williams. Forwards : P. Williams (capt.), Duncan, Mowatt, Kennelly, Patterson, Davidson, Irvine, Atkinson, Graham, Brown, Douglas.
