FATAL ERROR
OF GERMAN STATECRAFT. PAPER FAMINE. LONDON, llth August. The Times, in a leader, says :v: v "German statecraft suffers from tho fatal error of seeing pictures instead of realities. It sees nothing which is not fair to see, and shuts its eyes to tho most important of realities— the national feeling- of other peoples." A paper famine is imminent.- The price has advanced a penny per pound to l;|d, and it is estimated that the reserves are normally equivalent to ten weeks' supply, but in consequence of the increased demand by tKo newspapers, it will only last six weeks. LONDON, 12th Aug. (morning). Th Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Davidson) has appointed Friday as a day of prayer and intercession in connection with the war. He has also asked the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church and the Free Church Council to co-operate.
