PRECAUTIONS IN CANADA
WIRELESS STATIONS AND THE; PORTS. ST. LAURENCE RIVER CLOSED TONAVIGATION. m OTTAWA, 3rd August. The Government has taken ovei- all wireless stations in the Dominion, and has provided military guards for them. Motor boat patrols have been organised _ along tho i Sti Lawrence, Nova Scotia, and British Columbian coasts, to keep a sharp look-out for a number of small German warships which are t>e« lieved to be there. MONTREAL, 3rd Augusst. The port is practically closed, and a censorship lias been established over all cables, including those to Australia. QUEBEC; 3rd August.' . The military authorities took charge of the port here, closing tho St. LaWi. rence to navigation, and extinguishing all lights and laying mines. Tho sailing of steamships ex Vancouver to the Orient have been can* celled, as officers of tho Naval Reserve are returning to duty, and thus leavep them without officers.
