TRAVELLER IN TROUBLE. (IT TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. William Leslie Bolat, aged 32 years, arrested at Brisbane, who while town traveller for Arch. Clark and Sons cashed valueless cheques to the extent of £128 in one day, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Professor J. J. Findlay, of Manchester, has accepted an invitation to be the chief guest and speaker at the New Zealand Club's luncheon on Friday next. A man named Montague Kclliher, aged 30 years, unmarried, who was seized with a fit and fell from a cart which he was driving for Messrs. J. O'Brien and Co. on Monday, and injured his head, died in the Hospital *t an early hour tMs morning. The remains of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Bloomfiekl and Miss Hilda Bloomfield (their only child), who were drowned in the Empress of Ireland disaster were brought back to Auckland yesterday on board the Vancouver mail boat, Makura. The late Mr. Bloomfiold was colonel commanding the 3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles, and he will be buried with regi* mental honours. Colonel Braithwaite has gone to Auckland from Wellington to represent the Commander of the Forces. Tho Public Service Boavd invites tenders for tho supply and delivery of castings, ironbark poles, etc. A socond meeting ol ladies interested in tho approaching bazaar being organised by tho Wellington Football Association and tho Municipal Tramways;, is to bo hold in the Mayor's Room to-morrow evening. The Mayoress will preside. The meeting- will commence at 8 o'clock. Tho Wellington United Storemen'a Union, will hold a social and euchre party in St. Peter's Hall to-night^
