W...HadfiehL an instructor at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College, has been appointed third . instructor in agriculture to the Auckland Education Board. A presentation was made on Saturday by Messrs. Dalgety and Co.'s staff in Wellington to Mr. W. B. C. Oswin, who is entering the service of Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co. Mr. N. Galbraith, of the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company, will leave for Dunedin at the end of next X. week to assume the management of the company's office in that city. Mr. H. Fildes, of the Postal Department, will return to Wellington this week from Dunedin, where he fias been occupying the position of senior clerk for the past six months. Mr. L. Anderson, of the Savings Bank Staff, will succeed him at Dunedin. The staff of Messrs. J. B. Olarkson and Co., Ltd., entertained the directors of the firm at a social and concert on Saturday evening, and during the- evening Mr. Gr. Duncalf, on behalf of the employees, presented Mr. J.. B. Clarkson, who is leaving for a trip to America and England on 14th August, with a solid silver shaving set. Mr. Sydney, A. Cheesebrough, a gentleman well known and popular throughout New Zealand in business circles, especially in the motor and cycle trade, died at Christchurch on Friday last. Deceased represented Messrs. Kemsley and Co. Proprietary, Ltd., throughout New Zealand. He was thirty-one years of age and unmarried, and had been in the Dominion about six years, having come out from England. Fourteen months ago he was invalided with an internal trouble, and had been confined to bed ever since. Deceased was held in high respect by all "who knew him. This distinction is reserved for leading public servants in all parts of the Empire, and is not scattered around with the prodigality of knighthoods. Though it carries no title, the recipient will appreciate the honoui conferred upon him, and the whole railway service will feel gratified that its former chief has had his public service recognised by the King.'
