AMBULANCE WORK
In The Post's report of proceedings at the annual mooting of the St. John Ambulance- Association published on Saturday night,,,.reference was ma-do to the rather unusual appearance of the hall with its array of camp beds, stretchers, and' Red Cross men and women. This mastery was unfolded, latet in the evening when a oomploto demonstration was given by members of the St. John Ambulance Brigado, when the ambulance and nursing' contingents treated "sufforers" who had met with imaginary sorious accidents. Those included patients in various • stages of disrepair—broken limbs and head,' and suffering from hemorrhage. These' patients wore treated in first-aid by the men, and picked up and transported to the improvised hospital by ,tho stretcher, sauads, and finally treated by the ministering nurses and made comfortable in bed. Dr. Gibb (Corps Surgeon) ..' was in, medical charge, The "patients" emerged from the treatment when they had shed thoir disfiguring bandages, and proved to bo smiling scoutß of /the Newtown detachment, which mustered . in a strong body for the ocoasion. The band of the sth Regiment, which attended by kind • permission of the officers in command, played outside the hall from 7.30 to 8.30, and were dismissed after receiving 'His Excellency the Governor. It had been intended to havo their services in the hall, but that part of the programmo ,was altered to avoid spoiling an elocutionary entertainment being held at the time in the Concert Chamber. The Senior Cadets were drawn from the 27th ■« and 29th Companies of Senior Cadets; and wore under the command of Captain .Macfarlane, of tho City Engineer's. Department.
