MASTERTON MATTERS
<»Y TILIGRAPn—SPECIAL TO THE POST.) MASTERTON, This Day. The weather conditions on Saturday were extremely wintry, heavy, rain falling throughout the forenoon, with enow on the lower hills. In consequence all outdoor sports were postponed. The Social Democratic Party has been active of late in strengthening its membership in Masterton, and a series of meetings and conferences have been held. Just what the intentions of the party _ in this district are in regard to the coming elections it is difficult to state, but there is a feeling that some candidate will be put up by the party for thi6 seat, or that its support will be accorded one of the other candidates. It is understood that Mr. J. % T. M. Hornsby wi{l give his decision this week as to .his intentions in regard to tho Wairarapa seat, which ho has been asked to contest at tho next election. It is'considered likely that Mr. Hofnsby will again contest the seat against his old rival, Sir Walter Buchanan, M.P.
