Westerly and southerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed, aud very squally weather has been experienced in most partb of the country. At 9 a.m. to-day the following forecasts was gsued for the subsequent 24 hours:— Winds.—Strong to gale generally; westerly, changing to southerly, northward of Kawhia and East Cape; southerly prevailing elsewhere. Barometer,— Rising tendency everywhere at present, but unsteady in the South. Sea,—Heavy on all the western coast and between Castlepoint and Kaikoura; rough elsewhere. Tides.—High on the west coast of the North Island and southward of Castlepoint; moderate northward of East Cape and on the west coast of the South Island; good elsewhere. Warning Bignals for southerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, Castlepoint, Capes Campbell, Farewell Spit, and Foulwiud, and at Stephen Island, Nu«Ket Point, and Centre Island. \ Weather.—Cold and damp weather, with rain generally, and snow on the higher levels in the South.
