The Kingand Queen visited the Parkhead Steel Works, Glasgow, to watch the manufacture of 16-inch guns. A picturesque incident 'of the day was the presentation of a bouquet of orchids to the Queen, for which the workpeople subscribed a penny each. An overhead crane capable of lifting hundreds of tons was uCTTised to carry a little girl down, the shop to where their Majesties were, when she timidly asked the Queen to accept the bouquet.
