WELLINGTON CLUB. There was a fair muster of the Wellington Club at Island Bay on Saturday, in view of the principal crosscountry championship next' Saturday. The afternoon's proceedings were in the' form of a, run through over a distance of about six miles. The duty of traillaying was undertaken ''by S. Beniams and G. Weston. ' For the first mile T. Eagle and W. Power made the pace, Donaldson, Rowberry, and Press then moved up, Donaldson and Rowberry taking the pace in turns. When the heavy going (on the hillsides) was encountered W. Bennett showed superiority, and during the exceedingly greasy descent from the summit of the ranges he established a substantial lead and passed the trail-layers. On reaching the road Rowberry, Donaldson, and ,-Press made' strenuous 'efforts'to.overtake Bennett, but he eventually finished first with the substantial lead of about 100 yards from Iris next best opponent. Tho order of finish from Bennett was Ff Rowberry, W. Donaldson, and ,W. Press, these three runnel's , being separated by not more than about twenty-five yards. As far as is at present ascertainable, the Provincial Championship will beheld at Miramar next Saturday, the starting point being the Miramar tram terminus. Wellington Club will be represented as regards their A team, by W. Bennett, W. Press, W. Donaldson, F. Rowberry, R. Eagle, and A. Pleasant. The B team will comprise W. Power, T. Eagle, G. Weston, C. Thompson, S. Beniams, and C Butler. OLYMPIC CLUB. The Olympic Club held its usual run from Kelburn Kiosk on Saturday. The trail-layers (Messrs. Wilson, Alabaster, Brown. Poynton/and'Coad) proceeded to the hills overlooking .the Karon Reservoir, across the golf Jinks to Karori, thence via the roacT to the starting point.' The A team, which conceded ten minutes to the trail-layers, succeeded in overtaking them 1 some distance from home. The. B team were unfortunate in missing the trail, and arrived back some minutes after the rest. The- club has now decided to enter a team f°r the P.C.C. Championship/ aVid v it is hoped 'to see a good muster of the three teams at the Basin Reserve, this/week. In the event of the P;C.Q..Q. beiijg postponed, the club will be the'guests of, Mr. D. Alabaster, Brooklyn.'
