Kransiensky, a railway cashier, embezzled £2000, and went to Canada. He was unable* to find work there, and decided to return to Europe. He sailed by the Empress of Ireland, and when the vessel sank clung to a boat and was rescued. Penniless, he was sent to Europe at the expense of the authorities. He returned to Hungary and was arrested.
