At the tennis championship tournament, at Wimbledon, in the second round of the singles Watson beat E. Yencken, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 ; Parton beat A. Yencken, 6-2, 6-0, 7-5; Dunlop beat Robin, 7-9, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1; Froitzheim beat Hope Crisp, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Other winners were : F. Lowe, Gel'mot Decugis, Parke, and Harding. In the doubles, Brookes and Wilding defeated Baird and Bell, 6-1, 64, 6-0. (Received June 24, 12.5 plm.) LONDON, 23rd June. Doust defeated Tindell Green, 6-1, 3-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, and Ritchie defeated Roper Barrett, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. Dunlop lost the first set owing to the slippery ground. Finally he discarded his snoes and won the match in his socks. The play of Doust and Green -was characterised by mutual hard driving. Doust, towards the end of the match, came to the net and made wbnderful cross Volleys. A. Yencken put out his shoulder in the first set. A surgeon replaced it on the ground, and Yencken pluckily continued play, running to the third set of twelve games. Mavrogordato won the first round. HUGE UNDERTAKING IMPROVEMENT OF SYDNEY HARBOUR FACILITIES RAILWAY TO FEED THE FORESHORES. (Bj telegraph.- Press Association.— Copyright,) SYDNEY, 23rd June. The largest and most comprehensive railway scheme for improving traffic and the shipping facilities of the harbour ever submitted to the Government has been outlined by the Ministers, who inspected the whole route. The proposed scheme of railway will feed all the foreshores of the harbotu, and enable the Harbour 1 Trust to build wharf accommodation from Darling Harbour to the western side of Balmain. Xt is intended to carry the railway round the foreshores from Rozelle Bay to Glebe Island wharves, _ where the whole of the wheat shipping is carried out. When the_ scheme is completed ifc will make Balmain the greatest shipping suburb. It has an extensive waterfront and numerous bays to give accommodation io fleets of ships when the wharves are erected. The Ministers, who reviewed the scheme, agreed that it was a huge undertaking, but the growth of shipping demanded immediate attention, and nothing but a bold, comprehensive scheme would do.
