KARORI
BOBOUGII COUNCIL MEETING. The Karori Borough Council met last evening, when there were present : The Mayor (Mr. W. T. Iliklreth), Councillors B. G. H. Burn, W. G. Bradnock, C. Cimino.W. Skegg, T. R. Boyes, and C. P. Jordan. Accounts totalling .61332 19s 8d were passed for payment. The Tramway Board wrote that on Sunday, 7th June, the car due to leave Newtown at 5.30 p.m. for Karori was run into the depot as the result of the motet-man and the conductor neglecting to make themselves acquainted with the running arrangements, and, in consequence, no car left the Karori Council Chambers at 6.48 p.m. The matter had been taken up by those concerned. The ( Valuer-General intimated that a sitting of the Assessment Court, to hear objections to valuations, would be held on 6th July. Mr. C. I. Dasent was appointed assessor for the borough. Councillor Skegg moved that the Post-master-General be asked to erect a slot telephone near Russell's store. The motion, which was seconded by Councillor Cimino, was carried unanimously. A free pass over the tramways was granted to Captain Henry, inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Councillor Boyes moved : "That in view of the excessive charges of Is Id car mileage and stop-over time charged by the City Council for the running of cars on the Karori line, the engineer bo instructed to draw up a report on the supplying of our own power for running the cars and lighting the borough." — The motion was considered in committee, and postponed for three weeks.
